Margo Miller Work Selected for Butler Midyear Exhibit
July 07, 2015
ALLIANCE, Ohio – Mount Union faculty member Margo Miller, associate professor and chair of the Department of Art, recently had a painting selected for inclusion in the prestigious Butler Institute of American Art’s 79th National Midyear Exhibit in Youngstown, Ohio.
Miller was chosen for her painting, "Potawatomi Delusions" also known as “View From the Potawatomi.” It depicts the view of the Potawatomi Hotel and Casino in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. During a recent trip to Milwaukee, Miller was struck by the delusions of gamblers at the casino hoping to strike it rich. She took photos during the trip and used the viewpoint of the photos for the painting.
Miller has been a member of the Mount Union faculty since 2004. She graduated from the University of Akron with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and Kent State University with a Master of Fine Arts degree before beginning her professional career. Miller’s artwork has been featured by a variety of venues, including The Cleveland Biennale UK touring Drawing Exhibition and the Cleveland May Show and has created illustrations for packaging still in use by Buckeye Horse Feed of Mars Company.
The annual midyear juried show at the Butler Institute was judged this year by artist Bob Godfrey. The show runs July 12 through August 30 and a Meet the Artist reception is slated for 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, July 19. Reservations for the reception are required by calling (330) 743-1107.
