ALLIANCE, Ohio -- Mount Union College will feature the Marronprater Dance and Music Company on Thursday, March 22. The Company will present two performances, a morning performance at 10:35 a.m. as part of the College's Convocation Series, and an evening performance at 8 p.m., both in Rodman Playhouse.

A symbiotic union between choreographer Bethany Prater and composer James Marron, the Marronprater Dance and Music Company consists of a repertory of diverse works that utilize such theatrical elements as a ten foot steel tripod, a swiveling bar stool and a simple living room couch. The Company premiered its most recent work, The Call, in March as guest performers on the Groundworks Dance Theatre's Landmark Series Concert.

The Company's work has been performed throughout Akron and Cleveland, including the Cleveland Museum of Art, Ohio Theatre at Playhouse Square, Cleveland Public Theatre and Daum Theatre. Marron and Prater have also performed at the American College Dance Festival and Appalachian State University guitarfest in North Carolina; William Patterson University guitarfest in New Jersey; Colorado Dance Festival in Colorado and Dancemakers Theatre in Toronto. They also performed with David Dorfman Dance in the premier of No Roles Barred, a community based project.

The Company recently returned from its international debut, where it was presented by Chimera Project of Toronto. Marron and Prater have also given workshops, masterclasses and lecture demonstrations on their creative process for area schools and organizations.

The convocation is free and open to the public. Rodman Playhouse is located on the corner of Union Avenue and Simpson Street in Alliance. For more information, interested persons may call the public relations office at (330) 823-6078.
