Martha McClaugherty to Speak at CLP Session

ALLIANCE, Ohio — Alliance Historic Preservation Commission chairman Martha McClaugherty will be the featured speaker to kick off the fall semester’s Continued Learning program at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 9 in the East Room of the Hoover Price Center on the University of Mount Union’s campus.
McClaugherty will speak on the topic “Doing Historic Preservation in Alliance.” Her talk will focus on the duties and activities of the Alliance Historic Preservation Commission, which is in the process of designating local landmarks.
McClaugherty is also president of the Alliance Area Preservation Society, a local non-profit that works to encourage historic preservation activity in Alliance and owns and operates the Haines House Underground Railroad Museum.
Those attending are welcome to stay for lunch in the Kresge Dining Commons ($6.50) or B&B Café (a la carte) following the session.
The Continued Learning Program sessions, which are all free and open to the public, include a variety of presentations and current perspectives, as well as time for questions and discussion. Additional sessions have been scheduled for October 11, 18 and 25.
