Matriculation Convocation to Be Held in Timken Gymnasium

The Matriculation Convocation will be held Friday, August 24 at 4:15 p.m. in the gymnasium of the Timken Physical Education Building.

The Matriculation Convocation, a traditional 'rite of passage' for all new Mount Union students, marks the start of the academic year. The College faculty, processing in academic regalia, will officially welcome the new student class.

Dr. Patricia Draves, vice president for academic affairs and dean of the College will welcome the Mount Union community and Dr. Richard F. Giese, president of the College, will offer greetings. Scott Zurakowski, president of the Alumni Council and MaryEllen Ditchey, president of Student Senate will also share their perspectives.

Sandra Ekstrand, assistant professor of economics, accounting and business administration and the 2007 Great Teacher, will present the address, 'Revisiting Oz.'

New students will then have the opportunity to sign the Matriculation Book, making them official members of the Class of 2011.

Family and guests are welcome to attend.

Following the ceremony, there will be a cookie and punch reception in the Peterson Field House.
