I chose to come to the University of Mount Union to play volleyball and to pursue engineering. There are countless opportunities available on campus both in my field of study and as an athlete. Mount Union offers endless possibilities for students with different interests, so no student should feel excluded.
Mechanical Engineering Hands-On Learning
Students majoring in mechanical engineering at the University of Mount Union have multiple opportunities to get hands-on experiences within the curriculum as well as outside the classroom.
Students can get involved in student organizations such as the Engineering Club, Mini Baja Team (UMU Purple Raiders), Concrete Canoe Team, etc. to apply engineering principles in the design and development of engineering systems. These experiences are crucial in building team work skills, communication skills and hands-on skills that are crucial in career success.
Experiential learning opportunities give engineering students many ways of putting classroom knowledge to work. These opportunities include:
- Faculty led International Field Experience
- Study abroad experience
- Student competitions
- Undergraduate Research with faculty
- Multiple laboratory components
- Service-learning opportunities
