SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Dr. Josh Gargac, assistant professor of mechanical engineering at the University of Mount Union, earned the prestigious Best Paper Award from the American Society of Engineering Education’s (ASEE) Manufacturing Division.
Gargac earned this honor for his paper, “Improving Student Engagement in a Senior-Level Manufacturing Course for Mechanical Engineering Students.” He is the first faculty member from Mount Union to receive this national honor.
“Winning this award is a testament to the faculty culture here at Mount Union, especially in the Department of Engineering,” Gargac said. “ We are all seeking out new methods to better engage our students and prepare them for meaningful employment."
A member of the Mount Union faculty since 2015, Gargac has been instrumental in the creation of the Engineering and Entrepreneurship Design Expo and has facilitated several hands-on student projects.
He was honored at the manufacturing division dinner during the annual ASEE conference in Salt Lake City, Utah on June 26.
