My favorite place at Mount Union is the Huston-Brumbaugh Nature Center. Many students do not realize that Mount has its own nature preserve, but it does!

Meet the First Year Initiatives Staff

Melissa Turk

Director, First Year Initiatives

Melissa is a native of Willowick, Ohio and attended Mount Union, graduating in 2009 with a B.A. in Psychology. She then continued her education at Kent State University and graduated in 2012 with a Masters in Higher Education Administration and Student Personnel. After graduation, Melissa ventured off to the sunny skies of Los Angeles, CA as the Program Manager for the Office of Orientation Programs at the University of Southern California (USC). She left USC in 2015 as the Associate Director. Melissa has now found her way back home to Mount Union as the Director of First Year Initiatives. Melissa is primarily responsible for the oversight of the Preview, Orientation and Exceptional Beginnings programs.

In her free time, Melissa tries to stay active. You can usually find her enjoying the outdoors, anywhere from hiking, running, fishing and camping. Melissa also keeps her competitive spirit up playing sand volleyball during the summer months.
