Merling Trio to Perform at Mount Union February 9
January 31, 2005
On Wednesday, February 9 at 8:00 p.m. the Merling Trio will perform in Mount Union College's Presser Recital Hall at 8 p.m.
The Merling Trio, which unites musicians with Dutch, Polish and Japanese backgrounds, has performed at such concert halls as Carnegie Hall.
Comprised of Renata Artman Knific on violin, Bruce Uchimura on cello, and Susan Wiersma Uchimura on piano, they blend together to form what has been described by the Cleveland Plain Dealer as 'fluent in rhythm and rich in romantic feeling.' Founded in 1988, the Trio has performed in the United States as well as Canada, with various orchestras as well as under numerous conductors. Contemporary composers, including C. Curtis-Smith and Terry Winter-Owens, have written works for the Trio.
For their concert at Mount Union College, the Merling Trio will perform works by Beethoven and various other composers.
