Midnight Breakfast A Hit During Finals At Mount Union
April 13, 2010
ALLIANCE, Ohio - Taking their noses out of their books, students at Mount Union College ventured to the Dining Hall for Midnight Breakfast Tuesday, May 1, where President of the College Jack Ewing and members of the faculty and staff were serving omelets, bacon, hash browns and more.
According to Rod Peterson, director of food service, when Vice President of Students Affairs and Dean of Students Doug Oblander approached him about doing the Midnight Breakfast, the idea was a familiar one.
"Actually, the idea for the Midnight Breakfast came around 10 years ago," Peterson said. "We only held the event three times before it got out of hand and we decided to cancel it, but I was willing to give it another try."
Tuesday's breakfast served 1,087 students. In addition to a good meal, the event featured give-aways of several items including T-shirts, soccer balls, a bike and Indians tickets.
"Since the event was a success, we plan to continue holding it each year during finals, but that is really going to depend on the reaction of the students," Peterson said.
