The Mount Union Family

When you come to Mount Union you really are a part of our family here. We have such a collaborative and supportive atmosphere, it is just engrained into our culture. Growing up in the area, I always knew Mount Union was a quality institution. To have the opportunity to come and be part of the Raider family is really an honor. I knew Mount cared about their students, but in addition it was obvious they cared about their employees. They provide an opportunity for students and faculty alike to grow and flourish! I am blessed to be able to work for a nursing program that continues to grow their simulation department. I get to use one of the highest fidelity pediatric simulators to teach students, SimBaby!

Sharing Nursing Knowledge

I always knew that I wanted to find a profession that involved working with children in a direct and impactful way. Throughout nursing school, I couldn't wait to get to my pediatric clinical rotation, knowing that this would be my niche in nursing. After six years of working at a children's hospital, I knew that I wanted to share my passion for kids with others through teaching. Now, I am lucky enough to pass on the importance of pediatric care and child advocacy to nursing students.

The Nursing Program at Mount

In the nursing program we are continually implementing the best teaching practices through the use of high quality learning products, simulators, and impactful clinical rotations.  I love teaching students at the sophomore level in Health Assessment, where they barely know how to use a stethoscope and then by senior year the growth in their skills and abilities is just amazing. Students come back and share with us their experiences in the profession and the outstanding care they provide. It always reminds me of a small child learning to crawl and the feeling you get when they take their first steps.
