Mount Union Alliance Chorale to Present 25th Season Spring Concert
April 02, 2008
The annual Spring concert of the Mount Union Alliance Chorale will again be under the direction of Professor John Roberts of the Mount Union faculty, and will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 13 at the First Christian Church, 1141 W. Beech in Alliance.
This year’s program will feature a wide variety of songs, including works by Mozart, Randall Thompson, Cole Porter, John Dowland and even a medley of folk songs called “Americana.”
The 35 voice chorale is just about evenly divided this year between Mount Union students and community members, ranging in age from 18 to 78. Admission to the concert is $5, with tickets available at the door.
This presentation concludes the 25th season of the collaboration between Mount Union College and the greater Alliance community. The Chorale was founded by Dr. Gary Funk, former Mount faculty member, and some interested music lovers from the Alliance area, with the idea of bringing quality choral music to Alliance audiences. The group has performed with the Alliance Symphony Orchestra, the Canton Symphony, the Mount Union Concert Band and other ensembles in venues ranging from Umstadt Hall in Canton to the Alliance High School Auditorium and several Alliance area churches.
