Mount Union and Alliance Middle School Students to Host Blues Concert
December 7, 2004
Mount Union College education majors taking ME 400, 'Best Practice in Middle School,' and Alliance Middle School 8th graders will be hosting a blues concert given by 'The Bluestones' on Thursday, December 9 from 12:15 - 2 p.m. in the gymnasium of Alliance Middle School.
The event is the culminating activity for an interdisciplinary unit created and facilitated by the Mount Union students. Throughout the unit, the 8th grade students had the opportunity to explore the blues through all content areas, while learning about its impact on our country's heritage and musical artists of today. The Mount Union students hope the unit will instill a genuine appreciation for blues music. The class, ME 400, is taught by Deborah Walker, instructor of education.
In addition to the concert, projects commemorating and highlighting original blues artists, as well as other artifacts from lessons and activities,
will be on display.
'The Bluestones' are a six-piece band from Kent. They have performed throughout Northeast Ohio and have played as the opening band for KoKo Taylor.
The event is free and open to the public.
