Mount Union Celebrates First Ever Combined Homecoming/Alumni Weekend

Bringing it all Together was the theme for the first ever Homecoming/Alumni Weekend at Mount Union College, combining Alumni Weekend, formerly held in June, and Homecoming into one fun-packed weekend of activities.
The weekend kicked off on Friday, October 19 with campus tours and an International Tea followed by an International Mixer. Friday evening, a parade round-up of campus was held led by the Purple Raider Marching Band. A Street Fair and Pep Rally with fireworks over the Campus Lakes rounded out the evening.
Saturday featured Camp MUCaw where Mount Union student organizations sponsored a day full of fun and activities for children.
Alumni College 101 class sessions were held featuring Dr. William Cunion, assistant professor of political science and chair of the Department of Political Science and Sandra Ekstrand, assistant professor of economics, accounting and business administration, the past two recipients of the College's Great Teacher Award.
The 23rd Annual Run-A-MUC 5k Race and 2-Mile Fun Run/Walk began in front of the Timken Physical Education Building. For children 7 years and under, there was a Kid's Race following the Run-A-MUC. This race consisted of one lap around the track and each participant won a prize.
Sorority gatherings took place for Alpha Chi Omega, Alpha Delta Pi celebrating 60 years and Delta Delta Delta. A Black Student Union Welcome Reception took place at the Black Cultural Center.
The third annual Carnival took place in the Field House where children of all ages enjoyed a DJ, clown, caricatures, a bounce house and games.
During the Alumni Luncheon, Daniel Keller '72 was awarded the Dodie Davis Alumni Service Award. The McKinley Fellow Award was presented to Jacquelyne Bailey and Aaron Swartz '00 received the Young Alumni Award.
The Homecoming Football Game kicked off at 1:30 p.m. with the Purple Raiders taking on Baldwin-Wallace College.
Post-Game Alumni Reunions were held at various locations followed by an Alumni Party at the Alliance Country Club.
Sunday featured an International Breakfast followed by a Liturgical Celebration in Dewald Chapel.Back to Previous Page
