The Concert Choir is among the oldest collegiate choirs in the United States tracing its roots to 1896. One of five choral organizations at the University of Mount Union, the Concert Choir is the University's premiere choral ensemble. The Choir has enjoyed an international reputation, performing and earning critical acclaim in China, India, Malaysia, Norway, and Turkey, among many other nations throughout Europe and the Far East. They have been honored with a number of prestigious invitations, including concerts at the White House, for the American Choral Directors Association, and performances before three separate global gatherings of the United Methodist Church.
The Concert Choir also has a long history of choral recording and was among the earliest U.S. college choirs to release their concerts on record. "Destiny in Black & Gray" is the latest recording by the Concert Choir. In addition to this release, their previous CD recordings, “Purple,” “Lineage,” "Sold Out!" and “Live From The Road,” are still available on compact disc.
Chosen by competitive audition, the members of the Choir maintain a demanding schedule of daily rehearsals, regular sectionals, invitational concerts and tour performances. The members of the Concert Choir represent virtually every major area of study within the University.
