Mount Union Choir Releases New CD Destiny in Black & Gray

mucchoircdDestiny in Black & Gray is the fourteenth commercial recording to be released by the Mount Union Choir. The first recording by the Choir was released in 1955 under the direction of long-time director Cecil Stewart. This CD is the fifth to be released under current director Dr. Scott Dorsey, professor of music.

The 15 tracks on this CD include Exsultate Justi (Plainchant, c.1167); Exsultate Justi (Jeanie Fuller); Shepherd’s Song (Thomas Cole); Alleluia!  Dic nobis Maria (Francisco López Capillas);  O Magnum Mysterium (Morten Lauridsen);  Swing Low Sweet Chariot (arr. Larry Farrow);  i thank you God (Eric Whitacre);  O Christ Our Light (Charles Galetar);  Ezekiel Saw de Wheel (William Dawson); Amor de mi Alma (Z. Randall Stroop);  Witness (Jack Halloran);  Wondrous Love (arr. Paul Christiansen);  Soldier’s Song (arr. Jonathan Willis, director of bands at Mount Union); Water Night (Eric Whitacre); and Prší, Prší (Miroslav Hronek).

Produced by Class of 1977 graduate Bruce Gigax, head of recording services for the Cleveland Orchestra and owner of Audio Recording Studios, Inc., this CD includes recordings made in Dewald Chapel as well as live performances in concert in Presser Recital Hall from 2005-2008.
