Mount Union College's Crandall Art Gallery Features Michelle Doll-Dibbs "Self Spectrum"
April 22, 2010
The recent work of artist Michelle Doll-Dibbs, entitled "Self Spectrum," will be on display in Mount Union College's Crandall Art Gallery from November 3 - December 14.
According to Doll-Dibbs, this series is a collection of self studies developed over the past three years. She hopes to convey something deeper than the outer surface.
"I have studied a personal range of feelings and emotions and presented them as visual pieces," said Doll-Dibbs. "These portraits attempt to capture moments of myself, not necessarily a definitive likeness. This exploration of self has produced work that is not always flattering and certainly not perfect, but life is not perfect, and neither am I."
Doll-Dibbs graduated from Kent State University with a bachelor of fine arts degree. This is her second solo exhibition. She was the winner of the 2000 Juror's Choice Award at the 64th Area Artists Annual Exhibition at The Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown.
A reception honoring Doll-Dibbs will be held Saturday, November 3 from 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. at the Gallery, and the community is invited to attend. Crandall Art Gallery is located within Cope Music Hall, on the corner of Simpson Street and Union Avenue.
