MOUNT UNION COLLEGE'S CRANDALL ART GALLERY FEATURES RECENT WORK OF ARTIST LAILA VOSS

April 22, 2010

ALLIANCE, Ohio - Recent work by artist Laila Voss will be on display in the College's Crandall Art Gallery from February 3 through March 2.

The exhibit titled "Night Scenes and Horizons" will feature a variety of pastels, which Voss said capture not only the "illusive quality of light and space at night, but also an emotional and mental space, equally as illusive and often just as mysterious." In addition, the exhibit will include a series of abstract oil stick drawings, which explore a shifting horizon line.

According to Voss, this particular series of drawings has naturally become more complex over time. "A simple idea leads to another, as discoveries and curiosity fuel the search," Voss said. "A straight forward path through horizon lines and color shifts winds its way toward emotional and spiritual journeys."

The community is invited to attend a reception honoring Voss on Saturday, February 3, from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Gallery. Crandall Art Gallery is located within Cope Music Hall, on the corner of Simpson Street and Union Avenue.
