April 15, 2010

Deborah Walker, a teacher in the Kent school system for 30 years, has received the Kevin Coleman Foundation's Educator of the Year award, in the lifetime achievement category.

Walker has retired from the Kent schools and is currently an adjunct professor in the department of education at Mount Union College, where she teaches middle school education.
On Tuesday, November 19, Walker was presented with a basket of apples from Dr. Richard Marriott, vice president of academic affairs and dean of the College. She also received congratulations from her Mount Union colleagues in the education department.
Walker was nominated for the award by Rebecca Howe, assistant principal at Stanton Middle School in Kent, who was a colleague of Walker's for over 20 years.
