Mount Union College Celebrates 2009 Homecoming and Alumni Weekend

Mount Union College recently celebrated its 2009 Alumni and Homecoming Weekend with a variety of activities and events for all ages.
The weekend kicked off on Friday, October 2 with the dedications of the Gartner Welcome Center and the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex (MAAC). Also on Friday evening, the annual Mr. MUC Competition was held in the Mount Union Theatre.
On Saturday, the 26th Annual Run-A-MUC 5k Race and 2-Mile Fun Run/Walk was held. For children 7 years and under, there was a Kid’s Race following the Run-A-MUC. This race consisted of one lap around the track and each participant won a prize. Children also had the opportunity to attend Camp MUCaw, which offered a day full of fun and activities.
The Alumni Luncheon honored the recipients of the Dodie Davis Alumni Service Award and the Young Alumni Award. The weekend offered opportunities for alumni to reconnect and visit with former classmates. The classes of 1939, 1944, 1949, 1954, 1964, 1969, 1974, 1979, 1984, 1989, 1994, 1999 and 2004 were honored with class reunions at various tents around the Campus Lakes.
The annual Street Fair featured music, food vendors, entertainment, a dunk tank, games, a bounce house and slide, a magician and clown. Prior of the football game vs. Baldwin-Wallace College, there was a parade through campus.
Other events that took place during Alumni Weekend and Homecoming 2009 included a pre-game cookout, soccer and volleyball games, alumni swim meet, alumni art exhibit, donor recognition rally, Greek gatherings, Alumni Career Transitions Workshop and a memorial service and tree dedication.
On Sunday, alumni softball and baseball games were also held.
