Mount Union College Celebrates Homecoming 2002

Mount Union College welcomed alumni and friends back to campus during the annual homecoming festivities, Saturday, September 28.

The following were held:

19th Annual Run-a-MUC 5K Race

Registration began at 7:30 a.m. and the race began at 9 a.m. in front of the Timken Building.

Kid's Race

For children 7 years and under following the 5K race. The race consisted of one lap around the Mount Union College track. Each participant won a prize.

National Cabinet of Mount Union Women

The National Cabinet of Mount Union Women met at 9:30 a.m. in the Alumni Room, located in the Hoover-Price Campus Center. All alumnae and friends were invited to attend.

Alumni Swim and Diving Reunion Meet

An Alumni Swim and Diving Reunion Meet was held from 10 a.m. - noon in the Timken Pool.

Celebration of Stadium Renovations

At 10:30 a.m. there was a celebration of stadium renovations at the Mount Union stadium. This was an opportunity to recognize those who made significant stadium renovations possible.

Pre-Football Game Brunch

At 10:30 a.m., a Pre-Football Game Brunch was held in the Kresge Dining Commons, located in the Hoover-Price Campus Center.

Annual Giving Special Gift Clubs Reception

The annual reception was held at 11:30 a.m. in the Campus Grounds, located in the Hoover-Price Campus Center.

Homecoming Parade

The Homecoming Parade stepped-off at 11 a.m. in the Hoover-Price Campus Center parking lot.

Young Alumni Reception

A Young Alumni Reception was held from 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. at bw-3 Grill and Pub, 2642 West State Street in Alliance.

Pre-Law Society Alumni Gathering

A Pre-Law Society Alumni Gathering was held at noon in the lobby of Bica-Ross Residence Hall.

Alumni Association Tent

Prior to the football game, near the stadium, the Alumni Association distributed balloons and spirit items.

Football vs. Muskingum College

The Mount Union Purple Raiders took on Muskingum College at 1:30 p.m. in Mount Union Stadium, winning 49-3. Fans enjoyed the Mount Union Marching Band, the Purple Raider Cheerleaders and MUCaw (the Purple Raiders mascot).

Post-Football Game Reception

A post-football game reception was held in the Campus Grounds, located in the Hoover-Price Campus Center.

Sorority and Fraternity Open Houses

The sororities and fraternities held open houses following the football game.

Tour of the President's Home

President and Mrs. John L. Ewing, Jr. invited alumni and friends to tour the new home of the President and family from 4 - 5 p.m, located at 1304 South Union Avenue.

Black Student Union Community Open House

The Black Student Union held a Community Open House at 4 p.m. in the Black Cultural Center.
