Mount Union College Choir to Present Welcome Back Concert on January 11
December 18, 2003
The Mount Union Choir will present a Welcome Back Concert on Sunday, January 11 at 7:30 p.m., to mark the end of an eight-day tour, visiting sites in Ohio, Pennsylvania and Michigan. The Welcome Back Concert will be held in Presser Recital Hall on Mount Union's campus.
The Mount Union Choir is the College's premiere choral ensemble. Founded in 1932, the Choir has enjoyed an international reputation, performing and earning critical acclaim in China, India, Malaysia, Norway, and Turkey, among many other nations. They have been honored with a number of prestigious invitations, including concerts at the White House, for the American Choral Directors Association, and performances before three separate global gatherings of the United Methodist Church. In addition to its active touring schedule, the Choir also presents regular premieres of new choral works.
The Mount Union Choir also has a long history of choral recording and was among the earliest U.S. college choirs to release their concerts on record. "Lineage" is the latest recording by the Mount Union Choir. This collection includes both current material and excerpts from out-of-print LP recordings dating from 1957-1972. In addition to this release, their previous CD recordings, "Sold Out!" (2000) and "Live From The Road," (1998) are still available on compact disc.
