Mount Union College Homecoming Will Be Bringing it All Together October 19-21

Mount Union College is Bringing it all Together this year by combining Alumni Weekend, formerly held in June, and Homecoming into one fun-packed weekend of activities.

The weekend kicks off on Friday, October 19 with campus tours departing at 9 and 10 a.m. from the Hoover-Price Campus Center. At 3 p.m. there will be an International Tea followed by an International Mixer at 4 p.m. in the Hoover-Price Campus Center. Faculty, staff and current students are also invited.

At 6:30 p.m. there will be a parade round-up of campus led by the marching band, rounding up students and alumni along the route, ending at the Mount Union Theatre.

The Mr. MUC Competition will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Theatre followed by Homecoming-Fest 2007 featuring a pep rally with fireworks at the Campus Lakes.

Saturday will start at 8:30 a.m. with Camp MUCaw where Mount Union student organizations will sponsor a day full of fun and activities for children ages 3-12. Check in for campers is anytime between 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. and pick-up is immediately following the football game. Pre-registration is required for this event.

At 9 and 10 a.m. Alumni College 101 will take place in the Hoover-Price Campus Center. The 23rd Annual Run-A-MUC 5k Race and 2-Mile Fun Run/Walk will begin at 9 a.m. in front of the Timken Physical Education Building; registration begins at 7:30 a.m. For children 7 years and under, there will be a Kid's Race following the Run-A-MUC. This race consists of one lap around the track and each participant will win a prize.

There will also be sorority gatherings taking place throughout the day. Alpha Chi Omega will hold an informal continental breakfast from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the chapter house. Alpha Delta Pi will hold a picnic to celebrate 60 years from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the chapter house. Delta Delta Delta will meet on the Hoover-Price Campus Center solarium patio from 10:30 a.m. to noon.

At 11 a.m., an Alumni and Community Brunch will be held in the Kresge Commons of the Hoover-Price Campus Center. The cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children between the ages of 3 and 12. This brunch will end at 1:30 p.m.

Also beginning at 11 a.m. will be the third annual Carnival in the Fieldhouse where children of all ages will enjoy a DJ, clown, caricatures, bounce house and games. All children participating in camp MUCaw will join these festivities.

An Alumni Luncheon will take place at 11:30 a.m. during which the recipients of the Dodie Davis Alumni Service Award and the McKinley Fellow Award winners will be announced in the tented area of King Hall parking lot. The cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children between the ages of 3 and 12.

From noon to 1:30 p.m. there will be a Black Student Union Welcome Reception taking place at the Black Cultural Center.

The Homecoming Football Game kicks off at 1:30 p.m. with the Purple Raiders taking on Baldwin-Wallace College. For football ticket information call (330) 821-6759.

From 4 to 5:30 p.m. there will be Post-Game Alumni Reunions at various locations followed by an Alumni Party at 5:30 p.m. at the Alliance Country Club. All alumni are welcome and reservations are required. The cost is $20 per person or $35 per couple.

Sunday will begin with an International Breakfast at 8:30 a.m. in the East Room of the Campus Center followed by a Liturgical Celebration at 11 a.m. in Dewald Chapel.
