April 28, 2004
Mount Union College recently hosted the 2004 District Convention for Beta Beta Beta, a society dedicated to improving the understanding and appreciation of biological study.
The convention was held in Bracy Hall, Mount Union's new natural sciences building, and featured speaker was Richard Eckart, PhD, professor in the department of physiology and biophysics at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.
In addition to Mount Union, five colleges and universities participated in the event, including the College of Mount St. Joseph of Cincinnati; Hillsdale College of Hillsdale, MI; Ohio State University; Shawnee State University of Portsmouth and Siena Heights University of Adrian, Michigan.
Mount Union's Rachel Blasiman, a senior from East Rochester, and Jessica Gordon, a senior from Uniontown, won the top awards for poster presentations, and they will be able to submit their abstracts to BIOS, the journal of Beta Beta Beta.
Third grade students from Northside Elementary were also invited to attend. The students presented science posters they made this spring with the assistance of local Beta Beta Beta members.
