Mount Union College Nature Center Holds Environmental Leadership Camp
June 27, 2003
The John T. Huston - Dr. John D. Brumbaugh Nature Center held an environmental leadership camp for area students Monday, June 23 through Friday, June 27.
Twelve students who had completed grades 9-11 from six area high schools - Alliance, Louisville, Marlington, Minerva, Sebring, and West Branch - were selected to participate. These students were chosen because of their interest in participating in environmental education activities in the school and the community. Student applications and teacher recommendations also were part of the selection process.
Each day, during six-and-a-half hour workshops, the students learned about the characteristics of leadership and how to work in teams and participated in water and soil studies. They also went on field trips to the Alliance Water Plant and the Waste Management Landfill in Waynesburg.
The Nature Center is located six miles south of Mount Union College on Daniel Street, just off Route 183.
