Mount Union College Opera Workshop Class Presents "Opera Scenes"

Mount Union College students enrolled in "Opera Workshop" for the fall semester will present "Opera Scenes," excerpts from various operas, on Saturday, December 1 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, December 2 at 7:30 p.m. in Presser Recital Hall.

The "Opera Workshop" class is taught by Amanda Joyce Abbott, a lecturer and private music instructor for the college. The class will be presenting scenes from Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro;" an excerpt from Mozart's "Don Giovanni;" an adaptation by Amanda Joyce Abbott called "A Cinderella Story," with music by Gioachino Rossini and Richard Rodgers; and "Down in the Valley," a one-act opera by Kurt Weill.

The students performing will be Ryan Bell, a senior from Minerva; Jennifer Cancio, a senior from Boardman; Jessie Lee Davis, II, a sophomore from Pilesgrove, NJ; Mitchell Edwards, a sophomore from Beloit; Rebecca Griffith, a junior from Waynesburg; Nicole Kissel, a senior from Cleveland; Paul Krajnak, a senior from Pittsburgh, PA; Michael Newman, a junior from Salem; Rebecca Purdum, a junior from North Canton and Dana Wessel, a sophomore from Hudson.
