Mount Union College Plans for Alumni Weekend 2003

Mount Union College will welcome back hundreds of alumni to campus for the weekend of June 6 - 8.

 

"The Place to Be" is the theme of this year's alumni weekend. Kicking off the events will be the annual Alumni/M-Club Golf Scramble on Friday, June 6 at the Tannenhauf Golf Club, followed by the Golden Anniversary Luncheon for the Class of 1953 at the President's Home. A guided tour of the campus will be departing from the registration area at the Hoover-Price Campus Center (HPPC) at 4 p.m. The afternoon's events will conclude with a Kick-Off Cookout at 5:30 p.m. on the Campus Grounds Patio at the HPCC.

The Friday evening events include Greek events for Alpha Chi Omega, Alpha Delta Pi, Alpha Xi Delta, Delta Delta Delta, Kappa Delta and Sigma Nu. Detailed information will be mailed by each group. At 8 p.m. at Roadhouse Charly's on 2239 West State Street, there will be a Welcome Back Reception. At 8:15 p.m., "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" will be showing at the Mount Union Theatre. The Campus Bookstore will be open from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. and the "Raiders' Cove" at the Campus Grounds, formerly known as "The Snack Bar" will be open from 5 - 11 p.m.

On Saturday, June 7, the day's events will include a Heritage Club Breakfast at 8:30 p.m. in the Solarium of the HPCC. At 9:30 a.m. in the Alumni Room of the HPCC, the National Cabinet of Mount Union Women will be meeting.

At 10 a.m., there will be several special interest sessions. Dr. Doug Hendel, professor of theatre will discuss "Fine Arts at Mount Union." Keith Downard, '74, senior vice president of Butler Wick and Co., will present "The Stock Market: Where Do We Go Now." Dr. John Saffell, '37, professor emeritus, department of history, will discuss "86 Looks at 9/11." Schedules for the special interest sessions will be available at the registration desk of the HPCC. A guided campus tour will depart from the registration desk at the HPCC at 10 a.m. At 11 a.m. in the Campus Grounds of the HPCC, Dr. John L. Ewing, Jr., president of Mount Union College, will present "The State of Mount Union College." The Alumni Luncheon will be held at 12:15 p.m. in the Kresge Dining Commons of the HPCC. Alumni Association President Nancy Ashcom '69, will be mistress of ceremonies. Special features will include the recognition of the Alumni Service and McKinley Fellow Award recipients. The fraternities and sororities will hold open houses from 2 - 3 p.m. that afternoon. There will be an Adult Students Reunion at the Adult Studies Building from 2 - 4 p.m. At 2:30 p.m., a self-guided tour will be departing from the registration area at the HPCC. A guided tour of Bracy Hall, the new science facility under construction, will be held at 2:30 p.m.

Class reunions will be held that afternoon, from 3 - 6 p.m. at various locations. There will be an open house at the President's Home from 4:30 - 6 p.m. A Alumni Buffet will be held in the Kresge Dining Commons of the HPCC at 7 p.m. The movie, "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" will be playing at the Mount Union Theatre at 8:15 p.m.

The Campus Bookstore will be open from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. The Campus Grounds will be open until 11 p.m.

On Sunday, June 8, there will be a meditation and memorial service at Dewald Chapel at 9 a.m. and a Farewell Brunch at 10 a.m. in the Kresge Dining Commons of the HPCC.
