Mount Union College Student Receives ECC Student Literary Competition Award

Jennifer Rose, a senior writing major at Mount Union College, was awarded second place in the poetry division of the East Central College's Eleventh Annual Student Literary Competition.
Rose, from Ravenna, received the poetry award for her poem "Flying." She also received honorable mentions for her poems "A Poet's Greenhouse" and "The Hike," and for her story "Stained-Glass Windows."
Mount Union students Carrie Coon, a junior English and Spanish major from Copley, and Bethany Garr, a senior writing and French major from Youngstown, received honorable mention in the poetry division.
The East Central College (ECC) includes nine campuses in Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. This year's competition received a total of 169 entries from eight of the nine ECC campuses. Entries were judged anonymously by an ECC faculty team.
All three students will be published in the 2002 ECC Literary Anthology.
