Mount Union College to Host Ohio District 13 Science Day March 29
March 26, 2008
More than 200 top science students in grades 7-12 from Stark, Tuscarawas and Carroll counties will attend the Science Day and Engineering Fair on Saturday, March 29 at Mount Union College.
The day will begin with judging from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the Peterson Field House. A public viewing will follow from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. The day will conclude with the awards ceremony at 2 p.m. in the Mount Union Theatre.
The Ohio District 13 Science Day is open to students in grades 7-12 who receive a “superior” rating at their school district’s science fair. Sixth grade students may display their projects and compete for special awards only. Projects that have followed Ohio Academy of Science Standards from students who are home-schooled or come from schools where local science fairs are not held are also welcome to be submitted to the District 13 Scientific Review Committee for possible entry to the Ohio District 13 Science Day fair.
The Ohio Academy of Science is dedicated to encouraging and assuring the discovery, understanding, dissemination and practice of science, mathematics and engineering. Each year in Ohio, there are more than 1,000 local Science Days, progressing to 16 district Science Days and culminating with the State Science Day where more than $150,000 in scholarships and awards are presented.
The Science Day and Science and Engineering Fair is made possible through support from local sponsoring organizations and affiliation with the Ohio Academy of Science (Ohio District 13) and Intel Science and Engineering Fair (Ohio Region 13).
