Mount Union College to Offer Public Tours of New Hartshorn Street and Union Avenue Apartments

April 22, 2010

Mount Union College will host an open house for its new apartment-style housing on Monday, August 20. Faculty and staff of the College are invited to attend from 4 to 5:30 p.m. and community members from 5:30 to 7 p.m. During the open house, participants will have the opportunity to tour the new facilities. One unit of the Hartshorn Street Village and one unit of the Union Avenue Manors will be open to the public.

The new housing offers more independent options for upperclass students. The Hartshorn Street Village apartments consist of two rows of houses, each with its own exterior entrance. Each townhouse has a living room, kitchen, bathroom and one bedroom downstairs and a bathroom and 3 bedrooms upstairs.

Each apartment in the Union Avenue Manors includes a living room, kitchen, four bedrooms and two bathrooms, all on one floor. Students living on Union Avenue are in an apartment community that consists of three large manor houses that are three stories high (equipped with an elevator) and have three apartments on each floor.

Ground was broken for the new facilities last fall and construction was completed this summer. Students have begun to move into the residences in preparation for the beginning of the 2007-2008 Academic Year.
