Mount Union College Welcomes Dr. Richard and Sandra Giese
April 22, 2010
Mount Union College held a community open house and reception to welcome Mount Union College President-designate Dr. Richard Giese and his wife Sandra on January 28 in the Campus Grounds of the Hoover-Price Campus Center.
Faculty, staff, students of the College and Alliance community members had the opportunity to meet, or reacquaint themselves, with the Gieses and welcome them back to the Mount Union campus.
Giese is currently the president of Monmouth College (IL). The Monmouth campus has seen dramatic changes during the past eight years as Giese has led efforts to improve its residential nature.
Prior to his presidency at Monmouth, Giese served as a faculty member and in increasingly responsible administrative positions for Mount Union, including vice president for enrollment services and vice president for institutional advancement. He was part of the College's administrative leadership team at a time when Mount Union experienced unprecedented growth in enrollment and endowment.
His wife Sandra is a Mount Union graduate and former elementary school principal in the Alliance City School system. While at Monmouth, she has been a part-time instructor in the education department and a college development representative. The Gieses' son Matthew, an Alliance High School graduate, and daughter-in-law Bela are M.D.s who are currently family practice physicians in Charlottesville, Virginia. They are the parents of one son, Jack.
