Mount Union Dedicates President's Home

The President's Home at 1304 S. Union Ave. was dedicated Saturday, May 18. 2002.
Atty. Fred J. Haupt presided during the dedication ceremony which included an invocation by Rev. Dr. Kenneth Chalker and remarks by Marcia Wolff of Design Council of Akron and Dr. John L. Ewing, Jr., the College's president. Dr. Ewing praised the Board of Trustees for their foresight in planning a residence that will benefit the entire campus community. Commenting on the opportunity to be the first residents of the home, Dr. Ewing said, "This is not really our home, it is Mount Union College's home." Haupt recognized members of the project team which included Melinda Keith of MAK Design, who served as the architect; Ms. Wolff, who was responsible for interior design; Hammond Construction, the builder; and Rice's Nursery, the landscape architect.
