Mount Union Greek Members Receive Awards

ALLIANCE, Ohio – Members of the University of Mount Union Greek Life community were honored for their involvement and dedication last week at the 2015 Greek Awards presentation.
Individual awards were given to members who have achieved a high level of exceptional leadership and involvement within the Greek community. Outstanding Senior Greek Woman was awarded to Alpha Chi Omega marketing and sport business major Haley Jurick of Kirtland, Ohio and Outstanding Senior Greek Man was awarded Phi Kappa Tau public relations major Gregory Koman of Painesville, Ohio. Koman also received the Outstanding Chapter President Award. Ashley Anderson, senior public relations major of Avon, Ohio, received the Outstanding Chapter President Award for her leadership as president of Alpha Delta Pi.
The Emerging Leader Award was presented to one fraternity man and one sorority woman who have been identified as an emerging leader on campus; junior Phi Kappa Tau marketing major Tim Anderson of North Royalton, Ohio and sophomore Alpha Chi Omega early childhood education major Gabriela Botzman of Dallas, Pennsylvania received this award.
The Outstanding Governing Board Officer was presented to an individual committed to the ideals of interfraternalism; Alpha Delta Pi senior psychology major Amanda Layman of Aurora, Ohio was presented with this award.
Sisterhood and brotherhood awards were given to members of each chapter who truly embody what it means to be a Greek man or woman. The Alpha Chi Omega Sisterhood Award was presented to senior middle childhood education major Leigh Kelley of Poland, Ohio; the Alpha Delta Pi Sisterhood Award was given to senior exercise science major Meghan Finton of Weirton, West Virginia; the Alpha Xi Delta Sisterhood Award was presented to senior public health major Katelyn Sees of Alliance, Ohio and the Delta Sigma Tau Sisterhood Award was awarded to senior exercise science major Alyssa Betro of Canton, Ohio.
For the fraternities, the Alpha Tau Omega Brotherhood Award was presented to junior sport business major Austin Click of Garrettsville, Ohio; the Phi Kappa Tau Brotherhood Award was presented to junior biochemistry major Will Yobi of Canfield, Ohio; the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Brotherhood Award was given to senior environmental science major Cody Cosentino of Germanton, North Carolina and the Sigma Nu Brotherhood Award was given to junior religious studies major Anthony Walsh of Conneaut, Ohio.
The Carl D. Orwick Fraternal Values Award was presented to assistant professor of management Michael Kachilla for his continued support of fraternity and sorority life at Mount Union.
Chapter awards were given to the chapters that have achieved a high level of excellence in their respected areas. Most Improved GPA was awarded to Alpha Xi Delta and Phi Kappa Tau; Highest New Member GPA was awarded to Alpha Xi Delta and Phi Kappa Tau; Highest Chapter GPA was awarded to Delta Sigma Tau and Phi Kappa Tau; Excellence in Scholarship Programing was awarded to Alpha Delta Pi and Phi Kappa Tau; Excellence in Community Service was awarded to Alpha Delta Pi and Phi Kappa Tau; Excellence in Philanthropy was presented to Alpha Xi Delta and Phi Kappa Tau; Excellence in New Member Education was awarded to Alpha Xi Delta and Sigma Alpha Epsilon; Excellence in Recruitment was presented to Alpha Chi Omega and Sigma Alpha Epsilon; Campus Leadership and Involvement was awarded to Alpha Chi Omega and Phi Kappa Tau and Improvement in Risk Management was presented to Alpha Xi Delta and Phi Kappa Tau.
The team of Delta Sigma Tau and Sigma Nu were also announced as 2015 Greek Week winners during the ceremony.
