Mount Union Handbell Choir to Perform Holiday Concert November 28

April 22, 2010

The Mount Union College Handbell Choir will be performing a holiday concert in Presser Recital Hall of Cope Music Hall on Tuesday, November 28 at 8 p.m.

The Handbell Choir is under the direction of Christine Allison, adjunct professor in the Department of Music and a 1976 Mount Union graduate.

Choir members include music education majors Natalie Dubinsky, Laura Duff, Candace Orth and ConnieMarie Whitehouse; biology majors Susan Ball, Jennifer Cadnum and Stephanie Sapp; math major Lisa Bryan; history major Katherine Weaver; and exercise science major Megan Duncan.

This eclectic group has only had the opportunity to play together for two semesters and is able to perform rather difficult music. Each ringer is responsible for two to four notes, including accidentals, and must to fit them into the overall melodic line. It can be surprisingly difficult, especially at fast tempos, to perform as one cohesive unit.

The program will include carols and other Christmas selections as well as the opportunity for audience participation.

Cope Music Hall is located on the corner of Union Avenue and Simpson Street in Alliance, Ohio. The concert is free and open to the public. For more information, please contact the Department of Music at (330) 823-2180.
