Mount Union Handbell Choir to Perform Spring Concert April 23

April 22, 2010

The Mount Union College Handbell Choir will be performing a spring concert in Presser Recital Hall of Cope Music Hall on Monday, April 23 at 8 p.m.

The Handbell Choir is under the direction of Christine Allison, adjunct professor in the Department of Music and a 1976 Mount Union graduate.

Choir members include faculty member Dr. Sheryl Mason, music education majors Robert Arnold, Jessica DeWitt, Lexi Glanemann and Kayla Moles; biology major Stephanie Sapp; music and religious studies major Kevin McCarty and freshman Andrew Potts of New Philadelphia, Ohio.

Each player is responsible for at least 3 bells and must have excellent inner rhythm. It can be surprisingly difficult, especially at fast tempos, for a group to perform as one cohesive unit.

The program will include multiple pieces by Douglas Wagner, 'Fughetta in C Major' arranged by David Bridges, Handel's 'Allegro' from the 'Water Music' arranged by Michael Keller and Kathleen Wissinger's 'Ribaltimento.'

Cope Music Hall is located on the corner of Union Avenue and Simpson Street in Alliance, Ohio. The concert is free and open to the public. For more information, please contact the Department of Music at (330) 823-2180.
