ALLIANCE, Ohio - Selected by Mount Union College's Theta Omicron Chapter of Pi Kappa Lambda Music Society, seven students have been chosen to perform in the College's first annual Honors Recital Saturday, April 21 at 8 p.m. in Presser Recital Hall.

Established in April of 1997, the Theta Omicron Chapter of Pi Kappa Lambda is dedicated to fostering scholarly interest in the theoretical and historical aspects of music, and the pursuit of achievement in performance, composition, music education and research. The Honors Recital has been established to recognize those students who have displayed high standards of scholarship, practice and application to the art of making music.

This year's performers include: Janet August, a sophomore from Greentown on flute; Ryan Bell, a senior from Minerva on baritone; Kathleen DeStefano, a junior from Carrollton on alto saxophone; Rachael Mayfield, a sophomore from Atwater as a soprano; Sayuri Saito, a junior from Japan on piano; Aaron Thornberry, a junior from Massillon on bass trombone; and Erica Williamson, a senior from Toronto on piano.

The student musicians will be playing a variety of music ranging from pieces by Johann Sebastian Bach, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Frederic Chopin to 20th century composers like Herbert Couf.

The performance is free and open to the public. Presser Recital Hall is located in the Cope Music building on the corner of Union Avenue and Simpson Street.
