Mount Union Names Outstanding Greek Seniors

Greek Awards 2009MaryElizabeth Crawford of Warren and Joshua Donnelly of Solon were named Outstanding Senior Sorority Woman and Outstanding Senior Fraternity Man respectively at Mount Union College’s annual Greek Awards ceremony.

A senior middle childhood education major, Crawford’s campus activities have included serving as president, vice president and recruitment chair for Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She is also a member of Order of Omega, the Student National Education Association and Kappa Delta Pi and has been named to the Dean’s List.

Donnelly, a senior criminal justice major, serves as vice president of Sigma Alpha Epsilon and has also served as risk management chair for the fraternity.  He is a member of the College Republicans and Pre-Law Society.  He is a four-year member of the men’s soccer team and a two-year member of the men’s swimming team.

Individual honors were also given to Adam Thomas, a senior mathematics major of Sullivan, and Melissa Turk, a senior psychology major of Willowick, for Outstanding Chapter President. Andrea Bruno, a senior business administration major of Concord, and Robert Towne, a junior accounting major of Conneaut, were given the award for Outstanding Governing Board Officer.

Roy Clunk ’77 was honored as Advisor of the Year to Phi Kappa Tau and Dr. Annette Petro Cryder, director of counseling services, was named Outstanding Administrator.

Earning Chapter of Excellence Awards were Delta Sigma Tau (gold), Sigma Alpha Epsilon (silver) and Alpha Xi Delta and Alpha Tau Omega (bronze).

Phi Kappa Tau and Delta Sigma Tau were honored for most improved GPA status. Phi Kappa Tau, along with Sigma Nu and Alpha Xi Delta were also recognized for having the highest new member class GPA. Highest chapter GPA recognition went to Sigma Alpha Epsilon and Alpha Xi Delta.

Sigma Alpha Epsilon and Alpha Chi Omega were honored for campus leadership and involvement and recruitment excellence. Sigma Alpha Epsilon and Delta Sigma Tau garnered recognition for campus and community service. The Chapter Program Award was presented to Alpha Tau Omega and Delta Sigma Tau and the New Member Education Award was given to Alpha Tau Omega and Alpha Delta Pi. Sigma Alpha Epsilon and Alpha Chi Omega received the Recruitment Excellence Award. The Alumni/ae Programming Award went to Alpha Xi Delta and Sigma Alpha Epsilon. Phi Kappa Tau and Delta Sigma Tau received the Overall Most Improved Chapter Award. The Fraternal Values Award went to Sigma Alpha Epsilon and Delta Sigma Tau.

Brotherhood awards were presented to Adam Johnson, a senior business administration major of Powell; Steven Brown, a junior business administration major of Salem; Jesse Shamp, a junior political science major of Monaca, PA; and Andrew Youtz, a senior sociology major of Alliance.

Sisterhood awards were presented to Bethany Camp, a junior Spanish major of Poland; Sara Daley, a junior middle childhood education major of New Philadelphia; Rebekah Deppert, a senior psychology major of Avon; and Amanda MacKnight, a sophomore communication major of Painesville.
