Mount Union Plans Community-Wide Thanksgiving Meal

November 06, 2012

ALLIANCE, Ohio — The University of Mount Union’s Ralph and Mary Regula Center for Public Service and Civic Engagement will host a free community-wide Thanksgiving dinner from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 17 at the Alliance Salvation Army.

The meal will be prepared by volunteers from Mount Union as well as guest chef Dennis Devies Jr. The meal is free, open to the public and will include activities for children. In addition to Mount Union volunteers, businesses and individuals throughout Alliance also support the event by providing food and monetary donations.

According to Abby Honaker, assistant director of the Regula Center, 300 meals were served during last year’s event and she hopes to see that number grow.

“We would love to see this become a community-wide event and want all area residents to know that they are welcome to come for food and fellowship,” Honaker said.

The Salvation Army is located at 57 W. Main St. in Alliance. For more information, contact Abby Honaker at (330) 204-4663 or
