Mount Union Players Present "Dancing at Lughnasa"
November 7, 2002
The Mount Union Players will present "Dancing at Lughnasa," at the Rodman Playhouse, Thursday, November 14 - Saturday, November 16 at 8 p.m.
"Dancing at Lughnasa," written by Brian Friel, is told through the memory of a man raised by his mother and four aunts in a small Irish village in 1936. The play begins at the time of the festival of Lughnasa, which celebrates the pagan god of harvest with drunken revelry and dancing. Their spare existence is interrupted by brief, colorful bursts of music from the radio, their only link to the romance and hope of the world at large. The play is widely regarded as Friel's masterpiece.
The play will be directed by Dr. Douglas Hendel, professor of theatre at the College. Please call the Rodman Playhouse ticket office at (330) 821-2565 for ticket information.
