Mount Union Presents Faculty Artist Recital

ALLIANCE, Ohio — Dr. Elaine Anderson, professor of music, and Dr. Maira Liliestedt, associate professor of music, will present a Mount Union faculty artist recital at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 25 in Presser Recital Hall.

Anderson holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in cello performance from the University of Alabama, a Master of Music degree in performance and theory from the Manhattan School of Music and a Bachelor’s degree in string education from Concordia College.

Before joining the Mount Union faculty, Anderson performed with multiple orchestras and held teaching positions in Georgia and Alabama. Anderson also served as a member of the Brevard Music Center cello faculty in North Carolina from 1996-2005.

Liliestedt received a Bachelor of Music in piano from Bowling Green State University and a Masters in Music and Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.

Before moving to the United States in 1992, Liliestedt was a prizewinner in both national and international competitions in Romania. Liliestedt has won multiple solo piano and collaborative competitions at the high school, collegiate and graduate levels. Since 1996, Liliestedt has been a member of the Appassionata Piano Duo, a successful musical partnership with pianist Janelle Phinney.
