Dr. Michael Olin Hitt, professor of English at Mount Union College will be the guest speaker at Fieldcrest of North Canton on Sunday, April 29 at 1:30 p.m.
Hitt is the author of The Word of God Upon my Lips'A Messenger Speaks, released early in April of 2007.
His first published book, The Word of God includes both Hitt's personal story and his exploration of many of the religious questions being wrestled with by Christians today. He provides new perspectives on a wide array of timely topics from the purpose of prayer and the soul to fighting terrorism and the fear within and living in a holy way today.
Divided into three sections, the first is a personal narrative of Hitt's journey into prophetic prayer. The second part focuses on the wisdom he received through prayer and the third is a personal story of renewal.
'This poignant and stirring book recovers the ancient practices of prophecy and deep prayer at a time when we in western Christendom especially need them,' said Lynn Schofield Clark, Ph.D., assistant professor of journalism and media studies at the University of Denver. 'Let this fascinating book reintroduce you to how we might hear God's voice in contemporary times.'
An active fiction writer, Hitt has published stories in The Notre Dame Review, The Nebraska Review, The Georgetown Review and other literary journals.
Hitt is also founder of the Spiritual Quest Foundation, with a mission to create forums in which the spiritually gifted can grow and share in the Spirit of God.
