Mount Union?s Sigma Nu Beta Iota Chapter Forms Alumni Chapter

April 27, 2010

Alumni of the Sigma Nu Fraternity recently formed a Beta Iota Alumni Chapter.

On Saturday, November 25, alumni of the Beta Iota Chapter of Sigma Nu Fraternity held a meeting at the chapter house at Mount Union College to discuss the development of an alumni chapter. For that initial meeting, a formal petition was signed and submitted to the Sigma Nu Fraternity, by-laws were adopted and officers were elected.

On December 7, the alumni chapter was formally recognized and was issued an active charter by the Sigma Nu Fraternity national office.

'The purpose of the Beta Iota Alumni Chapter is to support alumni relationships and to help foster stronger personal and professional connections between members of the Beta Iota chapter,' Jarrod Cole, a Mount Union Sigma Nu alumnus said. 'Since the initial meeting of Sigma Nu alumni, several committees have been formed and operational functions have been developed and implemented.'

The alumni chapter will hold an annual meeting at the chapter house to discuss the various functions and new developments of the chapter each year on the day following the chapter's philanthropic Mike Hardy Basketball Marathon Event. This year, the basketball marathon will take place on March 16 and the alumni chapter meeting will be on March 17 at the chapter house.

Other alumni chapter functions will include developing and issuing of the chapter's annual newsletter, The Beta Eye, planning various alumni events throughout the year and developing and supporting various academic scholarships and philanthropic endeavors.

If any Beta Iota member would like more information on how to get involved with a committee, submit or update contact information for future communications or get more information on this year's meeting, please contact Alumni Chapter Commander Jarrod Cole at or Alumni Chapter Recorder Ryan Rebholz at
