Mount Union Spreads Holiday Cheer

This holiday season, members of the University of Mount Union community were generous and dedicated to helping others in need.
The many holiday philanthropy projects included:
The Support Staff Advisory Council (SSAC) completed its annual toy drive that resulted in 378 toys and nearly $300 being donated to the Alliance Professional Firefighters.
The Campus-Wide Holiday Gathering for all employees was held at the Alliance Country Club on December 6, and as a result of the generosity of many, canned goods were collected to benefit the Alliance Food Pantry.
Offices on campus joined together to support the Alliance for Children and Families (ACF) by adopting the 12 families currently residing in the organization's transitional housing and providing holiday gifts of clothing, toys, books, games and toiletry items. Collectively, these offices purchased 110 articles of clothing, 19 coats, 12 pairs of shoes, 90 personal care items, 73 games and toys, nine books, 10 pairs of socks, 15 pairs of gloves, seven blankets, three purses, four food items and $200 worth of gift cards.
The mailroom also collected hats, mittens and gloves of all sizes for the ACF’s homeless shelter and permanent supportive housing.
In addition, Delta Sigma Tau, in collaboration with Student Athletic Advisory Committee, the pledge class of Sigma Nu fraternity and other Mount Union community members, raised $915 in donations to put toward gifts for the ACF. Together, they purchased 103 toys and games, more than 100 canned goods, 85 pounds of fresh fruit, 146 pairs of socks, 65 pairs of boy’s and girl’s underwear, 56 pairs of men’s and women’s underwear, toilet paper, paper towels, freezer bags, dish soap, wrapping paper and tape.
