Mount Union students and educators recently attended the annual OMEA (Ohio Music Education Association) Professional Development Conference in Columbus, OH.
In January, 35 Mount Union music education students joined more than 9,000 music professionals from ten different states at the OMEA Conference. The conference sponsors many opportunities to provide educational experiences for students and to support the professional development of music educators. OMEA is Ohio’s principal organization in promoting music education in schools and is an affiliate of MENC (The National Association for Music Education).
The students were among 125 music professionals who attended Eins! Zwei! Drei! Kinder machen Musik! Teaching Ideas from the German Elementary Classroom presented by Dr. Patricia Boehm, associate professor of music. They also attended a performance by the Summit Children’s Choir who were accompanied by Kathy Reichenberger, staff accompanist.
Boehm will also be presenting Singen und Tanzen! Kinder Musizieren! What We Can Learn from the German General Music Classroom at the 10th Biannual Mountain Lake Colloquium for Teachers of General Music Methods, to be held May 17-20 in Pembroke, VA. The conference is sponsored by Middle Tennessee State University, Indiana University School of Music and the Society for Music Teacher Education, Music Educators National Conference.
