Mount Union Students Take Third Place in ECC Undergraduate Mathematics Competition

A mathematics team from Mount Union College placed third recently at the Sixth Annual Eastern Central Colleges (ECC) Undergraduate Mathematics Competition held at Westminster College.


Mount Union students participating in the event were senior Chris Coffin of Elyria, senior James Hack of Arnold, Maryland, freshman Amanda Hirschauer of Columbus, and freshman Michelle Nord of Tallmadge. Gerald Wuchter, associate professor of mathematics at Mount Union, coordinated the event.

A total of six teams representing five of the ECC campuses participated in the three-hour exam. Each member of the top placing teams received a cash prize. Members of the ECC are Bethany College, Heidelberg College, Hiram College, Marietta College, Mount Union College, Muskingum College, Otterbein College, West Virginia Wesleyan College, and Westminster College.
