Mount Union Theatre to Perform “Anton in Show Business” October 5-8

ALLIANCE, Ohio – The University of Mount Union’s Department of Theatre will feature the comedy “Anton in Show Business” from Thursday, October 5 – Sunday, October 8.
The play, which has been called, “funny, smart, wry and poignant” features an all-female cast of Mount Union students.
Members of the cast include Kerstin Vaughn ’19, Juliana Sutliff ’21, Nicole Siliko ’18, Rachael Thorn ’21, Maddie Frye ’19, Reilly Davidson ’20 and Grace Collins ’19.
The comedy follows three actresses trying to perform Anton Chekhov works in Texas in modern times. Samuel French, Inc. described it, saying, “In the tradition of great backstage comedies, Anton in Show Business conveys the joys, pains, and absurdities of ‘putting on a play’ at the turn of the century.”
“Anton in Show Business” premiered during the Humana Festival of New Plays at the Actors Theatre of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky in March 2000 under the direction of Jon Jory.
All performances will take place in the Gallaher Theatre in the Giese Center for the Performing Arts. The Thursday, Friday and Saturday performances will be at 7:30 p.m. and the Sunday matinee will take place at 2 p.m.
