ALLIANCE, Ohio - Mount Union College will serve as host for the 2001 Great Lakes Chapter Meeting of the College Music Society March 30-31.

The conference will welcome professors and graduate students from Ohio, Michigan, Ontario, Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin visiting Mount Union for paper presentations, performances and panel discussions on a variety of topics related to music performance, pedagogy and scholarship.

The event will kick-off with a concert on Friday, March 30 at 7:30 p.m. in Presser Recital Hall, located in the Cope Music building. The concert, which is open to the public, will feature compositions and performances by Great Lakes Chapter members, as well as a performance by the Mount Union College Women's Chorus, under the direction of Dr. Scott Dorsey. The Women's Chorus will be performing literature from the Baroque period, the music of Brahms and various arrangements of blues selections.

The meetings and presentations on Saturday are open only to registered members of the Great Lakes Chapter, and according to Dr. James Perone, associate professor of music and local arrangements chair for the conference, should be well attended with an expected attendance of 50 to 100 scholars.
