Mount Union to Host Community Conversation on Economic Future of Northeast Ohio

May 05, 2010

Mount Union College will be the host site for a Community Conversation on Our Economic Future in the Campus Grounds of the Hoover-Price Campus Center on Saturday, April 8 from 10 a.m. to noon.

This community conversation is presented by Mount Union College and the Alliance Area Chamber of Commerce. An initiative of Voices & Choices in conjunction with The Fund for Our Economic Future, AmericaSpeaks and The Universities Collaborative, community conversations like this are being held throughout the region to discuss the most important challenges facing Northeast Ohio. The results of these community forums will be collected and utilized to shape the agenda for the entire region.

On November 12, 2005, hundreds of citizens from every corner of the region came together for the largest Town Meeting ever convened in Northeast Ohio. These participants wrestled with the tough issues facing the region in order to develop a shared vision for the future and identify the most important challenges facing the region.

As a result of that initial meeting, Community Conversations are being held to help develop an agenda for the economic future of Northeast Ohio. The first step in developing an agenda will be to identify the assets of Northeast Ohio that must be built upon and a vision for the future. This process will serve to identify the most important regional challenges that must be addressed in order to consider our options for overcoming them and prioritizing actions to move forward.
