Mount Union to Host Community Day
October 4, 2013
To thank Alliance residents for their continual support of Mount Union and to show appreciation for the partnership between the University and the City of Alliance, Mount Union will host a Community Day on Saturday, Oct. 12.
Community Day will be held in conjunction with the Mount Union vs. Wilmington football game. Those donating a non-perishable food item at the Mount Union Stadium gates will be provided a game ticket free of charge. Food items collected will be donated to the Alliance Community Pantry. Pressing needs of the pantry include peanut butter and canned tuna, but all non-perishable food donations are needed and appreciated.
“Mount Union has a long-standing partnership with the City of Alliance and its residents,” said Richard F. Giese, president of Mount Union. “We appreciate the community’s continual support of the University and our students and wanted to do something show our sincere gratitude.”
A special ticket booth for Community Day tickets will be located at the southeast entrance of the stadium. Complimentary tickets will be for seats in the designated Community Day section located at the southeast end of the stadium in the open stands.
Pre-game activities will begin at 5 p.m. and will include a cookout on the west side of the stadium (cost is $5 per person), a DJ, photo booth, giveaways, raffle and information booth. The University store will be on site with select Mount Union merchandise on sale.
Kick-off for the game will be at 7 p.m. The Alliance High School band will perform at half-time and the Little Aviators cheerleaders will join the Purple Raider squad on the sidelines during the game.
In addition, a number of local businesses are supporting the event as Community Day partners.
