Mount Union to Host Keyboard Artist Series

ALLIANCE, Ohio – Internationally acclaimed pianist Dr. Silvan Negruțiu will teach a masterclass and perform as a guest artist as part of the Keyboard Artist Series at the University of Mount Union.
Negruțiu will perform at 3 p.m. Sunday, January 25 and will teach a masterclass at 11:15 a.m. Monday, January 26 in Presser Recital Hall.
His performance pieces will include “Sonata” in F Minor by Ludwig van Beethoven, as well as beloved masterpieces of Johannes Brahms, Alberto Ginastera and George Enescu.
As an assistant professor of piano and coordinator of keyboard studies at Millikin University School of Music in Decatur, Illinois, Negruțiu obtained a master’s degree with First Class Honours at the Royal Irish Academy of Music and Dublin City University in Ireland. He received a graduate diploma from the National University of Music in Bucharest, Romania and completed a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in piano performance at Shenandoah University in Virginia, under the guidance of internationally acclaimed pianist and pedagogue John O'Conor.
No stranger to the international stage, Negruțiu has given recitals internationally from the Romanian Athenaeum in Bucharest to the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. He has also appeared as a soloist with prestigious orchestras including the Romanian Radio Chamber Orchestra, Alicante Philharmonic, George Enescu Philharmonic and Dublin Symphony Orchestra.
Presser Recital Hall is located in Cope Music Hall on the corner of Simpson Street and Union Avenue. The masterclass and recital are both free and open to the public.
