Mount Union to Host Relay for Life

ALLIANCE, Ohio – The University of Mount Union will host Relay for Life, Battle to Ban(d) Cancer, on Friday, April 19 through Saturday, April 20 in the Peterson Fieldhouse. Doors will open at 5 p.m. on Friday and the event will begin at 6 p.m.

Relay for Life is an organized, overnight fundraising walk. By raising money and awareness, its goal is to help the American Cancer Society fight cancer.

The event includes a Luminaria Ceremony at 9 p.m. which remembers and honors those who have or had cancer, as well as live music, family-friendly activities and fundraisers. Luminaria will be available for purchase until 8:30 p.m.

The following is a schedule of activities:

6 p.m. – First lap starts

7 p.m. – 1950s: Hula Hoop Contest

8 p.m. – 1960s: Partner Walk

8:30 p.m. – Kissing Booth

9 p.m. – 1970s: Flag Football

11 p.m. – Ms. Relay Competition

Midnight. – 1980s: Big Hair Competition

12:30 a.m. – Ultimate Frisbee

1 a.m. – 1990s

1:30 a.m. – Throw-Back Board Games

2 a.m. – New Millennium: Olympic Games

4 a.m. – Highlighter Rave

(Bring a white shirt and a highlighter)

5 a.m. – Pop Era: Volleyball

6 a.m. – R&B: Line Dances

7 a.m. – Rock: Karaoke

8 a.m. – Country: Stick Pony Race and Lasso Competition

9 a.m. – Rise and Shine: Workout

10:30 a.m. – Breakfast

Noon – Closing Ceremony

This event is open to the public and all are welcome to attend and participate. Those wishing to participate can register at the event.
